CP1919 - Conservation, Renovation & Extension of the Red Brick former Substation (PS) at Dublin Port

DPC wishes to engage a contractor to conserve, renovate & extend the Red Brick former Substation (PS) at Dublin Port Centre (herein after called the “Contract”). The building is a protected structure due to its positive architectural, artistic and technical values. It has the potential to be an important element of Dublin Port’s built heritage as part of a developing daisy chain of events including the Diving Bell & Heritage Crane 292. The Contract will consist of four elements: 1) Making the existing structure safe and mitigate the risk of collapse; 2) Develop the existing structure into a distributed museum and a multipurpose function space to host an array of different events such as; piano recitals, art exhibits, lectures, short film screenings, meeting space. 3) Excavate and create a display of the existing East Wall Sea Wall below ground within the Red Brick former Substation footprint 4) Construct an extension to the south of the building to make the best use of the available space and divert a number of critical underground services to accommodate the extension. Planning Permission for the Contract was granted under the Planning & Development Acts 2000 (as amended) on the 28th August 2020. The Contract will be concluded under the EU Utilities Directive Dir.2014/25/EU and the associated Irish Statutory Instrument, SI 286 of 5th May 2016 implementing that Directive with binding force specificity, precision and clarity, under Irelands obligations under the EU Treaty. The award procedure is being commenced via a notice of call for competition being published both on the Irish Government Portal www.etenders.gov.ie and in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) in association with this PQQ.
