Creation of anti-racism workshops for NLHF Delivering Change Project
Descriptions
The successful contractor will work with Delivering Change project staff, the project Advisory Group, and other stakeholders (including but not limited to other contractors such as facilitators and mental health practitioners) to create a series of in-person participatory anti-racism workshops tailored to the museum sector. The workshops will equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to explore issues relating to racism within the sector, as well as provide the tools and action plans for participants to critically explore how their own institutions could be perpetuating systemic racism. The workshop content must be designed for delivery by experienced anti-racism facilitators who have lived experience of being racialised people of colour. Please note that this contract covers the creation of the workshops only; the facilitation and delivery of the content do not form part of this contract. It is anticipated that the workshop programme will consist of 6 x half-day workshops (although MGS welcomes suggestions for the format and structure) and will include opportunities for networking and 1:1 support for participating organisations in between sessions. This support could take the form of coaching, facilitation and peer learning to help embed understanding and confidence. The workshops will initially be delivered to 16 participating Museum Transformer organisations, but the intention is to use the content as a basis to deliver anti-racism workshops across the wider Scottish museum sector after the lifetime of the project. Museum Transformer organisations will vary in size and type, from local authority and publicly run to independent. Whilst participation is free, there will be an application process to identify participants who are in the most suitable position to be able to commit to take part and enact the positive change. The successful contractor will be expected to work with Delivering Change project staff and contractors to design a mechanism to evaluate the workshops. This will form part of the wider Delivering Change external evaluation process and will provide the basis for iterations of future programmes.
