Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is assisting Cwmclydach Development Trust on the implementation of a Micro Hydro Power Project.The Nant Clydach is a tributary of the River Rhondda, South Wales. A design review has been undertaken by Pico Energy Ltd to confirm the potential for generation using micro hydropower for a system located between the upper and lower lake in the Clydach Vale Country Park.The project aims to develop a 50KW and 90KW community hydro power turbine. This will consist of 2 turbines Phase 1 will produce up to 50KW and Phase 2 90 KW. There has been a community consultation exercise and a favourable response has been forthcoming. Planning consent and a water abstraction licence has been granted for Phase 1. With regard to Phase 2 the Abstraction licence has been applied for and the project team are hopeful that this will be grantedThis is a multi-disciplinary project requiring a contractor to undertake a range of tasks including; civils works, penstock pipe installation, construction of a small power house and installation of the Turbine Generators together with all electrical works associated with the project.To express interest and access the PQQ document please register on the Alito e-tendering system at http://appswales.alito.co.uk/
