An Taisce Green-Schools Travel programme is a national initiative by An Taisce Environmental Education Unit (EEU) and is funded by the Department of Transport, supported by the National Transport Authority. The aim of the programme is to encourage pupils to use sustainable modes of ransport for their journey to school. There are significant environmental, social, health, safety, economic and quality of life benefits to be derived from reversing he trend of increased car use to schools. As part of this programme it is envisaged that cycle parking (Sheffield stands and shelters) and scooter parking will be installed at a number of schools located in Ireland.
