Awarded

DEARA — Provision of Laundry Services for Veterinary Service Annual Health Group Staff.

Descriptions

Veterinary Officers and Meat Inspectors at meat plants/abattoirs would require items of clothing (e.g. boiler suits, white coats, and white trousers) worn by staff in the course of their duties to be laundered. The contractor should note that these items of clothing may have been in contact with livestock (e.g. diseased animals). The risk to laundry staff from such clothing is in general considered to be low and apart from the use of disposable gloves when directly handling clothing and washing hands afterwards, no additional controls are considered necessary. However, Veterinary Staff will submit any such items in washable laundry bags and thus eliminate the need for the direct handling of these items.
