Default Energy Supplier for Void Housing
Descriptions
The City of Edinburgh Council require a utility supplier to provide energy supplies (gas and electricity) to void domestic properties. Properties are classed as void when a Council tenant leaves a property and prior to another tenant taking occupancy. Once a property is made void the energy provision would migrate to the Default Energy Supplier. However once a property is no longer void and a tenant has taken occupancy there would be no obligation for the tenant to retain with the Default Utility Supplier. This is a concessionary contract and any successful supplier will absorb up to 90 days energy and standing charges costs when a property is void (the current average void period is 27 days). The approximate number of properties in scope is 20,000 with an approximate 1,200 to 1,400 being re-let per annum. The successful supplier shall also contribute towards a Tenancy Rebate Fund where any Council tenant remains with the Default Energy Supplier for a period of 6 months.
