Technium is a pan-Wales network of 11 innovation centres providing a supportive environment for young technology businesses with high-growth potential. Technium offers accommodation to these businesses for a period of 3-5 years to help them through the critical early years of development and growth. The Technium environment includes state-of-the-art office accommodation, direct access to business, technical and specialist support, and links to academic institutions for support with Research & Development (R&D). Technium was set up to assist in the creation of new spin-out businesses from Welsh academia and to accelerate the development of young technology-based businesses in Wales. Technium was also developed as a mechanism to attract high value R&D inward investment projects from other areas of the UK and internationally. The contract will be for a period of 24 months, subject to a 12 month review Technium is a partnership between the Welsh Assembly Government’s Department for the Economy & Transport, higher and further education institutions in Wales, county councils and the private sector.
