DeltaStream Prototype - Design and supply of electrical power generation and convertion equipment

TEL is a privately owned technology development company exclusively developing an innovative tidal stream generator, known as DeltaStream. TEL has identified a demonstration test site at Ramsey Sound, Pembrokeshire and is in the process of obtaining the necessary consent licences to install a prototype DeltaStream device in 2011 for a 12 month test period. TEL wishes to appoint a contractor for the design, manufacture and supply of the electrical power generation and conversion equipment forming part of the prototype DeltaStream device. The contractor’s scope of work will include the following:•design of the 1.2 MW, 11kV electrical power system, from the on-device generators to the point of grid connection; •supply of electrical power equipment, to include 3 off, 400kW, 11kV generators, full suite of shore side power conditioning equipment (switchgear, transformers, power conversion units) for connection to a 3 phase, 11kV grid connection point; •design of the control system for the prototype DeltaStream device;•supply of control and monitoring equipment; •design and supply of all associated auxiliary control units, transformers, switching equipments to provide a fully integrated and working system. (Note: supply of power cables both subsea and onshore, other than those internal or integral to the electrical power generation and conversion equipment is excluded from the Requirement); •on site support services to oversee the commissioning and operation of the prototype DeltaStream device.
