Demolition - Canner Car Park, Newlyn Harbour
Descriptions
Newlyn Pier and Harbour Commissioners is seeking to secure the services of a suitably qualified demolition firm for the phased removal of buildings in their harbour estate as part of a redevelopment programme. The deadline for responses is: 13:00 Monday 15th October 2018. Newlyn is the largest fishing port in England by fleet and landings. It is located near Penzance in Mounts Bay, South West Cornwall. This Trust Port has a long term programme of development and expansion already underway. These plans address a longstanding shortage of good quality workspace in Newlyn, and quayside workspace in Cornwall, with the construction of industrial workshops, marine engineering infrastructure, food processing facilities and office space. This contract, along with lot 7 relates to the "Cannery Car Park" element of this programme, part of the regeneration of the centre of the harbour estate and town. The Cannery Car Park is on the site of existing harbour buildings that are being replaced on an adjacent car parking area. Capacity for parking needs to be maintained throughout the development programme in order for the harbour to operate so the build will be phased with demolition of vacated buildings and creation of new car parking capacity taking place between each phase. The current estimate for this demolition work is £250,000 This project, along with the two others in the programme, Canner Slipway and New Strand are being funded by the Newlyn Pier and Harbour Commissioners, supported by a grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the ESIF Growth Programme for England 2014 to 2020 with the overall cost of all three elements of the scheme estimated at £6,146,300. Asbestos is present and surveys are available for the buildings.
