Descriptions
RSRL has commenced decommissioning and demolition works on various facilities at Harwell and Winfrith. The purpose of these works is the removal of radioactive, non-radioactive and chemically contaminated facilities in order to allow unrestricted alternative use of the land. These facilities include redundant laboratories, workshops, waste storage, ponds, research facilities and other minor buildings. The scope of the work in general terms of facilities to be decommissioned and demolished and generic risks are known, but further work is required to determine the detailed scope for each facility. A Framework Contract is therefore required to cater for this work. The programme for the decommissioning of these Facilities is not guarantee. There is therefore no gurantee of any volume of work . The scope of works to be called off against the Framework Contract may include any of the following:- Task Planning- Preparation of Health Safety and Environmental Documentation- Mobilisation to Site- Isolation of Services- Baseline and Intrusive surveys RadiologicalChemical and Asbestos- Asbestos removals- Active plant removal / chemical hazard removal- Decontamination / decommissioning / handling and packaging of Low Level Radiological waste- Removal and management of LLW- Surveying / demolition / removal of underground liabilities including basements, tanks, drainage (including active and trade waste) and services- Soft Strip- Health Physics monitoring ( in support of specific activities)- Building demolition and floor slab removal- Removal of any associated structures including delay tanks- Waste characterisation and removal / recycling / recovery- Remediation of land- Sampling- Minor remediation works- Non-radioactive Waste Disposal / recycling through approved waste routes- Land remediation and site restoration- Demobilisation- Reporting including Post Decommissioning Reports- Design- Proposal and Project Management- Risk Analysis- Planning- Estimating- Cost Engineering- Safety justifications- Decommissioning
