South Ayrshire Council intends to establish a Framework Agreement for the Design & Construction of affordable housing on sites within the South Ayrshire Council boundary. The construction contract will be turnkey including all elements of the buildings and infrastructure.The purpose of the framework is to allow the Council to access construction cost control expertise achieving continuous improvement in housing construction cost effectiveness.South Ayrshire Council currently has approval for the construction of 58 units comprising 1,2, and three bedroom units. There is an ambition to build a total of around 200 units at a rate of 50 each year for a period of 4 years. The Council has not secured funding beyond this initial phase of 58 units and there can be no guarantee that the framework contract will extend to beyond this initial phase.The Council is currently seeking planning consent for a development site of 130 units. It is intended that the 58 units comprising phase one of this framework will be constructed on this site. This planning application proposes exemplar designs produced by Architects commissioned by South Ayrshire Council. A small window of opportunity will be available to substitute stock or amended design which meet the performance and amenity specification of the exemplar designs and satisfy statutory authorities. Any such further planning application will be made at the framework contractors risk.Any future construction phases may be located anywhere within the South Ayrshire county boundary.
