Design and installation of a micro Anaerobic Digestion facilityYnni Anafon Energy Cyf (YAE) is a successful community-owned enterprise, based in the village of Abergwyngregyn near Bangor. YAE has a focus on renewable energy generation, and has previously installed a 270kW hydro turbine in 2015. It is also part of the new community-energy consortium called Cyd Ynni, whereby 5 similar groups are sharing resources.This contract relates to one element of a new low-carbon energy development in the village. YAE is intending to install 3 different generators on one site. One of these includes retro-fitting equipment to an existing agricultural slurry tank to extract methane gas, which can be utilised to create electricity. This electricity will be provided to home within the village, along with electricity from the other 2 new generators.The slurry tank is a standard cylindrical agricultural type. It is situated on a dairy farm, with good access. The tank is approximately 9m tall, and 15m in diameter. Its construction is of single skin type. It has an existing electric propeller mixer, and is not currently covered. The slurry is pumped from the dairy and sheds through a holding chamber and via normal channels. The dairy herd is approximately 150 heads of Friesan cows, with approximately 100 followers. The herd will be kept indoors for 4-5 months a year, and milked twice daily throughout the year.We are seeking a solution that will permit YAE to achieve their aim of generating electricity from the existing slurry tank.
