The King George V playing fields in Aberaman, despite being in the heart of the community, have become down trodden and often suffer the effects of anti social behaviour and misuse. However work is on going through many committees that live and work in the area to revive this historical memorial park and restore its rightful place within the community. It is the community's aspiration to re-establish this facility as a safe place to visit and play, with the emphasis on it being a ‘community space’ where residents can once again gather, meet and hold family focussed events.King George V playing fields in Aberaman currently consists of a large informal playing field which is used for ball games. The park is also used for informal excise and dog walking.The park also has a large children’s play area, which is outdated and in need of a total refurbishment. Utilising funding from a local planning gain and the Heads of the Valley’s HARPS programme, the Parks Department is seeking to install a new children’s play facility and to make some basic improvements to the facility as a whole, to better meet the communities needs.
