Design, Supply, Installation, Commissioning, and Maintenance of Shore-to-Ship Power Infrastructure at London Gateway and DP World Southampton

Descriptions

Shore-to-Ship Power (SSP)-also known as Cold Ironing or Alternative Maritime Power (AMP)-is a system that allows ships docked at port to plug into the local electrical grid and turn off their diesel engines. This helps reduce air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and noise in port areas. London Gateway Port - A deep-sea container port located on the River Thames, opened in 2013. Operated by DP World, it features semi-automated terminals and advanced logistics. Hosts the UK's most integrated logistics hub with direct rail and road links. Includes a rapidly expanding logistics park for warehousing and distribution. Recently launched the world's first all-electric berth, emphasizing sustainability. DP World Southampton - One of the UK's busiest container terminals, located on the south coast. Offers fast, reliable, and secure cargo handling with advanced infrastructure. Known for the fastest landside turnaround time-averaging 35 minutes. Provides consistent vessel performance and resilient operations in high winds. Integrated with national rail networks, ensuring 99.5% on-time rail freight delivery. Electrical Works (Design, Supply and Construct) • Cable Management - Organized routing, securing, and protection of all electrical cables across the site. • Electrical Control & Protection Systems - Installation of control panels, protection relays, and associated systems for safe and efficient operation. • ASC/Reefer Substations - Setup of substations at 2 berths in London Gateway and 1 berth in Southampton, including switchgear and transformers. • 11kV Power Installations for ASC Cranes - Electrical supply from 33kV step-down transformers to ASC cranes. • 11kV Power Installations for Reefer Units - Electrical supply from 33kV step-down transformers to reefer container systems. • SCADA Systems - Deployment of SCADA for centralized control and real-time monitoring of electrical infrastructure. • LV Distribution & Lighting - Installation of low-voltage electrical networks including lighting systems across the yard. • Control & Protection Systems - Redundant mention reaffirming the critical role of control and protection in all electrical installations. • Waste Disposal - Safe and compliant disposal of electrical and construction waste materials. • Periodic Maintenance - Scheduled maintenance of all installed systems to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
