Development of Patient Participations Group in West Cardiff and South West Cardiff Clusters

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who are seeking declarations of interest to improve their understanding of the market as Cardiff West and South West Clusters are considering trialling the development of a Patient Participation Groups to support the improvement and development of services delivered to their patients.We are therefore scoping the potential for local third sector organisations to work directly with cluster practices to identify patients who may be willing to engage in this work on behalf of the cluster practices. The third sector organisation will be responsible arranging and facilitating the meetings, ensuring the diversity of the cluster areas are fully represented.The patient participation group will meet four times a year. Themes for each meeting will be set and agreed by the GP clusters and will be provided in a timely manner to the facilitator. The meetings will also provide an opportunity for the group to provide information on how they think GP services can be improved across the cluster areas. The themes will include the design of services for the delivery of prudent healthcare across the clusters and there will be clear communication lines between the clusters, facilitator and group members. Feedback on suggestions made by the patient group will provided at the earliest opportunity.This is anticipated to be a 12 month pilot should market interest be received.We would, therefore, welcome declarations of interest by the 9th December 2015 via email to emma.lane@wales.nhs.uk detailing the organisation name along with a contact name and number.
