Objective The Supplier will be required to design and implement a new research project that will investigate the challenges and opportunities affecting the adoption and roll out of bioenergy across Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) and support the development of innovative bioenergy solutions for developing countries. The project will undertake research activities designed to develop and deploy bioenergy solutions for low income consumers that will improve poor people’s access to affordable clean energy. The development of technological solutions is encouraged and will be given precedence over other types (e.g. market based) of solutions. The expected impact of this project is to inform the successful implementation of further research, Phase II Bioenergy, to be implemented under the TEA programme, which will: Improve our understanding of the challenges preventing the expansion of bioenergy across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), and Lead the development of a range of affordable and accessible technologies and business models that will improve the access of poor people to bioenergy.
