Explosives. The Depth Charge Mk 11 (DC Mk 11), in various modification states, has been in service since the early part of World War 2 and used in Anti-Submarine Warfare.The Defence Munitions Project Team (DGM PT) has a requirement for the identification, qualification and subsequent replacement of Torpex 8 within the Depth Charge body. This will mainly involve replacement of the energetic and the replacement of the body / casing of the Depth Charge.The replacement energetic will need to have IM characteristics and be initiated by energetics with similar characteristic as the Tetryl (which is present in the fuze). Please note the Tetryl replacement programme will be running concurrently and no energetic for the assembled fuze has been officially identified to date.The replacement of the Depth Charge casing will need to follow existing designs so that the existing fuze and tail can be fitted during the arming process and can be loaded to the existing in-service rotary platforms' Electromagnetic Release Unit (EMRU).
