Descriptions

DIAS was established by the government of Taoiseach Éamon de Valera as a body corporate under the Institute for Advanced Studies Act, 1940. Modelled on the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study (established 1930), DIAS combines scientific and humanistic disciplines in a framework of three schools, Theoretical Physics, Celtic Studies and Cosmic Physics (encompassing Astronomy/Astrophysics and Geophysics). Its mission is to facilitate the furtherance of advanced study by senior scholars in its specialised fields; to provide an environment to which researchers of international repute are attracted; to train and mentor gifted young scholars in the methods of fundamental research and scholarship; and to publish its research findings. The successful tenderer will work with the Registrar/CEO of 2021-2023. Increasing the Institute’s public profile, and celebrating the work being undertaken, is a key focus.2022 marks the 75 anniversary of the foundation of the School of Cosmic Physics. This will need to be celebrated whilst balancing with the profiling of the activities of the Schools of Celtic Studies and Theoretical Physics. The tenderer will also be required to provide more general support to the Institute’s comms, press, traditional and social media activities. The Contracting Authority require an average commitment of 1.0 day per week to this work based on a standard eight-hour day. Pricing should reflect this commitment. The proposed contract will run for an initial period of 1.5 years with the option for a further 1.5 years subject to satisfactory performance, business needs and budgetary constraints. The expected time commitment from the tenderer will also be reviewed after 1.5 years.Work priorities will be agreed at the beginning of each month in consultation with the Institute contact person. DIAS will receive a report at regular intervals detailing time inputs and services delivered. SEE MAIN TENDER DOCUMENT WITH ALL INSTRUCTIONS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD.
