Awarded
2239/DM - Hydrogen Electrolyser
Descriptions
With co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund, the University of Sheffield is establishing a flagship national Translational Energy Research Centre (TERC) and is looking to procure and integrate into a mini-grid system a range of bioenergy and renewable energy generating equipment Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), fuel cells and electrolysers. Hydrogen is a fundamental element in the transition to low carbon (or hydrogen) economy and hydrogen generation will form a key part of the integrated infrastructure in the Centre. This capability will support R&D activities associated hydrogen utilisation as fuel and/ or energy store, and as a transformational feedstock. The hydrogen generated will be utilised: (i) as fuel for a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell and/or fuel-cell-based micro combined heat and power (CHP) systems; (ii) additive to conventional fuels for energy generation; and (iii) for carbon dioxide utilisation applications such as liquid/gaseous fuel generation. Therefore, as part of the equipment portfolio, we are looking to procure an electrolyser capable of generating ≥ 20 Nm3/hr (preferably ≥ 30 Nm3/hr) of Hydrogen and associated hydrogen storage of minimum 300Nm3/h. The closing date for tender returns is at 12 noon on 3rd June 2019 (UK time)
