Descriptions

Crisis Intervention Intensive Support Services Community Services Short Break/ respite Specialist Education Residential Purpose The Local Authority and Health Commissioners would like to engage with service providers who can work together to help develop a bespoke service to enable an 11 year old boy to remain in his local community with the right support. This young man has severe learning disabilities, autism, is non-verbal and has complex needs with behaviours that are challenging. Commissioners are working with multi-agency partners to develop a detailed service specification to meet needs and would like to engage with providers of services as part of this process. This is not a procurement exercise at this stage and there is no guaranteed work, this is soft market testing to inform the bespoke service development. Our aim To develop be-spoke service/s that can support this young man and his family in all aspects including care, health and education. A service that is able to work together with multi-agency partners to provide the right support at the right time to allow this young man to remain at home with his family, to be able to access the community and to be educated locally. The service will be required long term to support this young man through transition into his adulthood. Working with key agencies in the development of this service, a Positive Behaviour Support (IPS) approach across all elements of delivery will be required which will include:. •Crisis intervention support when required and in times of escalations and de-regulation working in line with agreed strategies. •Intensive support to implement strategies and support with the young man using a holistic approach to delivery. •Support for him to access the local community safely in line with his care plan. •To support implementation of strategies and ensure these are consistent to meet the aims and outcomes for the young man and his family. •Planned opportunities for over-night respite in line with his care plan. •Delivery of alternative education provision within a local venue identified and/ or provide support staff to assist the education provider and him to access this bespoke alternative education provision. Other potential areas open to discussion include oResidential placement locally within County Durham or use of residential during term time only. A consistent staff team will be required who can be recruited, trained and retained to meet the individual needs of this young person and work together to deliver the community package or be part of a team delivering this. Next steps Providers are invited to express an interest at which point further information will then be shared in relation to a detailed pen picture regarding the needs of this child/young person. If you are interested please specify interest by e-mailing CYPSResidential@durham.gov.uk. Interested providers will then be invited to attend a teams meeting to discuss this in further detail
