Dorset County Council are seeking an off the shelf (cots) software solution to manage and support the Passenger Transport provided by the County.The Dorset Passenger Transport Team schedule and arrange transport for approximately 10 000 individuals each day with some of the key services including:Mainstream school transport from home to school, (approximately 7 000 passengers)Home to school transport for children with special educational needs, (approximately 1000 passengers)Transport for children excluded from mainstream school either to a learning centre or other appointed place for their education, (approximately 250 passengers)Ad hoc trips for children in the care of Children's Services (approximately 300 passengers)Transport for adults to day care centres provided by Adult and Community Services, (approximately 1 000 passengers)There are three very distinct disciplines (of transport) provided By Dorset Passenger Transport:— School Transport (mainly large buses) used on specific regular routes— Specialised Transport (smaller vehicles often especially adapted) used on specific regular routes— Taxis used on specific regular routes but more generally used on call off work where journeys are ad hoc and booked at short noticeThe proposed outcome of this work is the implementation of a single management system with improved supporting business processes to cover all aspects of passenger transport for which Dorset County Council has a responsibility to provide.
