Awarded
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Service.
Descriptions
Addiction treatment. The overall aim of the new treatment system is to deliver integrated recovery-orientated treatment that supports people to maintain long term recovery from their addiction and to enhance support to people with multiple or complex dependencies. To address this aim, the service will enable problematic drug and alcohol users to make positive changes to their lives and support them to move towards a life free from dependency, addiction and criminal offending. It will provide support packages covering a range of psychosocial and clinical substitute prescribing interventions based on individual need. More specifically, the new substance misuse treatment system will focus on recovery and will encourage people to be optimistic about their recovery. It is expected that people will have a time limited treatment journey and treatment will focus on evidence based psychological therapies, supported by workers who are competent to work across a spectrum of addiction, rather than a predominantly medical model. In addition to the psychosocial interventions there will be a requirement for clinical staff to support prescribing, detoxification and blood borne virus/wound care. The service will be accessible, inclusive and recovery-focused and will cater for people having problems with all substances (illicit drugs, other drugs such as Khat), over the counter and prescribed medications, legal highs, alcohol etc.).
