Descriptions

The aim of a community equipment service is to support health, social care and educational needs and to help alleviate risk and promote independence. It will provide a service for children and adults with physical or learning disabilities, long term conditions or mental health problems. Additionally many older people who do not see themselves as disabled but may be frail can certainly benefit from these services. Therefore, the broad range of community equipment services covered by this service specification includes short and long term loan of:— Equipment for daily living, such as shower chairs and stools, bath lifts, raised toilet seats and commodes;— Home nursing equipment such as profiling beds, pressure care equipment, syringe drivers, suction units etc.;— Mobility aids such as walking stick, crutches, walking frames, rollators;— Moving and handling equipment such as mobile hoists and slings;— Sensory equipment such as equipment for visual or hearing impairments;— Communication aids.
