Eddleston Water Project - Natural Flood Management Environmental Cost-Benefit, Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services
Descriptions
To identify, develop and test a standardised methodology that can be used by Flood Authorities and other relevant stakeholders to assess the environmental and social costs and benefits that can be derived from the range of ecosystem services that may be provided through the implementation of different Natural Flood Management (NFM) measures to reduce flood risk, and to demonstrate how this can be integrated into option appraisal processes. The approach will build on the work done on the Eddleston Water catchment, as part of the Scottish Government’s long-running study on the effectiveness of NFM measures to reduce flood risk and improve habitats, and on similar studies elsewhere.
