Despite the multiple benefits trees provide they can also damage human prospects through causing serious harm, i.e. death and injury; nuisance through structural damage or physical interference - disruption to surfaces; inconvenience by impeding normal use of land, excessive shade, encroachment; and increased management costs due to unexpected maintenance. r r This proximity has forced an increasing intensity of proactive tree management by maintaining trees to reduce their harmful impact on people and to optimise the benefits they provide our communities
