Electron Probe Microanalyser.
Descriptions
The University wishes to purchase an Electron Probe Micro-Analyser (EPMA) to replace an existing, but obsolete instrument (Cameca SX100), which is now over 17 years. We have funds to replace and upgrade the Cameca with a state-of-the-art EPMA incorporating a field emission gun source in order to minimise the specimen interaction volume and maximise spatial resolution as well as maximise analytical sensitivity and precision. The instrument will underpin research activities across a range of disciplines that involve advanced materials including: functional ceramics and inorganics, metallic alloy engineering, materials for energy applications, materials manufacture and joining, nuclear fission (including waste disposal), carbon capture and storage, surface science, materials performance and corrosion engineering, catalysis, battery and fuel cell technology and biomaterials.Contract start date - 12.7.2015Contract end date - 14.8.2015The contract is not open to other purchasers.
