Engagement Worker for Older People

Flintshire County Council (FCC) is looking to continue to contract for the services of an Engagement Worker for Older People.The main focus of the role will be to further develop and support effective means of involving, consulting and communicating with older people across Flintshire in order to meet the aims of the Strategy for Older People in Wales and the Ageing Well in Wales programme.Working in partnership with Flintshire County Council (Older People’s Strategy Co-ordinator and Departmental leads) and with the 50+ Action Group, representatives of the Health board and voluntary organisations, they will promote engagement and participation of older people across Flintshire ensuring the needs of older people are considered in the planning, development and evaluation of services and innovative approaches so that older people are able to “Age Well”Flintshire County Council is keen to ensure older people have opportunities to remain active in their community, are able to maintain/improve their wellbeing and live independently for longer. It therefore expects the potential service provider to:1) have a proven track record of engagement with older people and community development2) demonstrate a strong track record in partnership working and collaboration to achieve outcomes for older people.Due to the nature of the work, a local base or strong existing links with Flintshire communities will be a significant advantage.The worker who will be employed by the Tenderer will be expected to have:1) demonstrable experience of community development, preferably with a focus on people aged 50+2) good local knowledge3) an empathy with older people that has been demonstrated in applicable previous role(s)4) proven ability to affect changes that have resulted in positive outcomes for older peopleThe individual currently employed in this role under the existing contract has been in post for more than three years and TUPE will apply. This is a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further 3 years upon annual review.The annual value of the contract is £20k for the initial 2 years.
