Environment Agency Expression of Interest for Communities Framework

Descriptions

The Environment Agency and DEFRA have a joint FCRM R&D programme which delivers applied Research for all flood risk management authorities in England Wales. In January 2018 funding was approved by this R&D programme's Joint Programme Board to undertake four separate research projects: - Making it work on the ground - achieving greater public participation in FCRM - Coastal adaptation - a conversation with the public about 1m sea level rise and future adaptation - Improving community inclusion in FCRM - Role of communities in the inspection and maintenance of FCRM assets Each of these projects have two things in common in that they: - Have a community focus - Need a literature review and gap analysis at their outset Due to these commonalities it has been decided by the Environment Agency and DEFRA that time and cost efficiencies could be achieved by undertaking one literature review and gap analysis up-front to feed into the future development of each of these projects. The purpose of this project is to undertake a literature review and gap analysis which is referred to throughout this business case as an 'R&D framework.' This research framework will not only benefit the 4 projects described above it will also be used to help prioritise and shape future R&D projects related to communities and FCRM.
