Evaluation of the Young Entrants Support Scheme (YESS)

The aim of the evaluation is to establish the impact of the Young Entrants Support Scheme (YESS) has had on supporting new entrants and new successor’s into the farming industry.It is proposed that an evaluation of the YESS activities is to be carried out to ensure that the delivery mechanisms currently adopted and utilised by the Welsh Government are the most effective methods in exchanging information and in creating an impact on those young farmers in YESS and that attend and engage in Farming Connect activities. The key objectives of YESS are:• To support new entrants into farming• To promote and encourage effective succession planning• To put in place support measures for the transfer of best practise, knowledge and skills transfer• To promote and establish effective measures, business planning tools to support sustainable agriculture• To put in place, or sign post, financial and advisory support to encourage primary investment to encourage start up enterprise and/or increase business efficiency and /or reduce carbon footprint.It is expected that this work will be completed within six months of award.
