Exotic antivenoms for NHS for emergency use
Descriptions
Public Health England (PHE) is responsible for the provision of public health stocks of exotic antivenoms for NHS emergency use in the UK. The antivenoms are used in the event of someone being bitten or stung by an exotic venomous animal. This requirement is to source 24 different highly specialist exotic antivenoms from national and international Suppliers. As there are 11 different suppliers for this purchase, each of whom supplies a very small volume of antivenoms, Public Health England will communicate with suppliers and place orders following an exchange of e-mails with the supplier to confirm price per dose, shelf life and delivery timescales. The UK hub sites based across the country are required to hold specified minimum volume on likely treatment dosage. This allows delivery to be made within 5 hours (best endeavours) from when the request is received to any hospital location within the UK. This contract is being awarded under Reg 32(2)(b)(ii). The total contract value specified per supplier cannot be confirmed, as this is dependant on different expiry date of stocks held across various sites across UK. Additionally, the selection of each antivenom will be based on the opinion of the Advisory Group.
