The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent is seeking Expressions of Interest from suppliers capable of the Supply, Maintenance and Support of GPS Monitoring and Tagging Devices.Gwent Police have undertaken an involved and detailed analysis of the use of GPS tagging for offenders throughout a number of Forces in the England and Wales.The GPS tagging system has been identified as an excellent operational tool in supporting both Police and Partners in reducing crime, rehabilitating offenders and providing resilience to the everyday workload of those involved in this area of offender management.The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent is considering the procurement of this capability for those very reasons in order to maximise efficient and effective Offender Management techniques.The Force are also, by use of Vulnerable Person Alarms, identifying significant support for victims of Domestic Violence by utilising the GPS systems to reduce unrequired contact between identified parties and to support the evidential criteria in this area.It is anticipated that the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent will require an initial 10 x GPS Tags and 5 Vulnerable Person Alarms.
