The City of Cardiff Council currently operates a Boat Hire Service within Cardiff’s most popular public park, Roath Park Lake. The park opened in 1894 and it still retains its classic Victorian atmosphere and layout. The park has a regular large visitor base; footfall within the park was estimated in 2002 at 2 million park visitors a year. It is now one of Cardiff’s Green Flag Parks and remains one of Cardiff’s visitor attractions. Following the Nant Fawr stream, the park has at its heart the 30acre Roath Park Lake which is a popular facility for boating and recreation.The City of Cardiff Council has appointed an external provider to operate the Boat Hire service attraction & associated boating equipment that is based at Roath Park Lake. The provider will be responsible for the boat stage building and services and all equipment.
