Families First Information Event - Parenting Support Services
Descriptions
We would like to invite you to attend an Information sharing event to celebrate the support provided to families through parenting and parents support services and importantly to shape what future provision should be across Wrexham through the Families First programme. The recent announcement by Welsh Government regarding Families First funding for 2017/18 confirmed the level of funding available and an emphasis on parenting and parents support services in order to improve outcomes for families. This has since been backed-up with the recent publication of Families First guidance which gives further details of Government expectations on Local Authorities. In order to ensure that Wrexham continues to improve outcomes for local families in line with expectations and Guidance, we are holding an event which will bring together organisations and individuals who work with or who are interested in working with families through parenting provision and/or parents support services. The aim of the event is to:Explore the current picture across Wrexham in terms of parenting and parenting support servicesConsider what the future holds, by turning Guidance into reality for local families in terms of the following areas of service provision:Evidence-based group-based structured parenting programmesInformal parent support to engage parents, provide information and advice and prepare them for more formal support if requiredRelationship support servicesCrèche provision to support parenting service delivery.Share information regarding the commissioning process, including timescales for this stream of work going forwardThe Event will be held on Wednesday 14th June 2017 9 am – 1 pm at the Memorial Hall in Wrexham town centre and will be hosted by the WCBC Families First Team. The invitation is extended to all current and potential new service providers, other stakeholders (including commissioners, elected members and senior managers) and families and is part of the co-production of future commissioning of services. The morning event will include:A market place - so please let us know if you would like space to showcase your service.‘Speed Presentations’- we would encourage all organisations to take this opportunity to Speak about their service in 2 minutes or less!‘Speed Celebrations’ – offering the opportunity for service users to tell their story and highlight their success with support from your services, again in 2 minutes or less!Consultation – shaping the future through examining current provision (what works well), any gaps, changes needed and suggestions for future developments.
