Ireland has a significant opportunity to be internationally recognised as the authentic birthplace of Halloween, motivating international visitors to choose Ireland not only for Halloween but as a 'must do' cultural year-round experience which will generate economic impact and create sustainable jobs nationwide. As part of its positioning, there is a role to play in spreading awareness to the Irish market and harness the opportunity to reclaim our heritage and adopt a nationwide platform of celebration. The ambition of this project is to create a series of night-time ‘Samhain Night Processions’ in a number of destinations (up to three in year one) whose theme is in keeping with authentic Samhain/Halloween origins and traditions during the Halloween bank holiday period.
