Fit out works for WYAAT Aseptic Pharmacy Manufacturing Hub

Descriptions

The six trusts are working collectively to improve and transform the aseptic services in the region by providing a centralised hub supported by existing spokes at each of the trusts. This model will deliver the required capacity and capability to develop an NHS-leading aseptic service, resilient to future demand and pressures. The transformation aims to: • Produce sterile injectable medicines including: o Ready to Administer (RtA) injectable medicines, eg antibiotics o Monoclonal antibodies o Chemotherapy • Delivery service efficiencies • Enhance patient safety, patient care and the patient experience • Release nursing time to care The works will consist of the construction of a modular Aseptic Production Unit (APU) / Cleanroom Suite at the core of the premises with support facilities that will include offices, laboratories and warehousing. The envelop of the building will include new windows to office areas, louvres to support mechanical plant and door openings to facilitate activities and provide safe and compliant fire routes. The aseptic clean room suites will be provided with Air Handling Units. Heating and cooling plant will require an outdoor enclosure and ventilation plant will be located within a single ventilation plantroom inside the building. In order to meet the power demands of the unit the project will include an upgraded main supply through a larger capacity transformer. A new main low voltage switchboard is proposed to accommodate the additional loads and mechanical equipment to be supplied. The Trust has a direct order with the utility company and works should be completed before construction works for this project commence. The warehouse is larger than currently required so a significant fallow area will remain to enable future expansion. A specialist clean room contractor is required to carry out the fit out works in accordance with the design and specifications and to meet the specific requirements of the URS. The works must be fully compliant with statutory regulations and achieve the required standard to attain a licence by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
