Flood alert telemetry

Descriptions

Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) are looking to set up an early warning alert telemetry network for areas of flood risk. This will be done through installation of water level sensors at a number of flood defence assets on ordinary watercourses across the County. We will monitor as well as collect, analyse and report on data to build a better understanding of water level response in relation to rainfall and local hydrology, to continue to improve flood risk management across the County. This proposal is looking at 6 initial Trash screen sites using water level monitoring upstream and downstream of the trash screen. The differential water level measurement across the screen can indicate a screen blockage or increased base water levels after events due to the deposition of gravel / silt.
