Food Destination Development - Destination development training programme for the Food Sector in West Limerick

Descriptions

West Limerick Resources CLG intends to undertake a regional food sector development initiative over a 15-month period covering the West Limerick Area.West Limerick Resources are seeking the services of a training facilitator/group with extensive experience in the Irish food and/or Tourism sector to facilitate the roll out of training in West Limerick with the aim of developing and promoting artisan, micro, and small food businesses in the area. This is expected to be a programme of Food Destination Development. The initiative aims to enable the region to benefit from other agency initiatives, including: the Shannon Estuary Way, the Great Southern Greenway, the Limerick Branding, the Limerick Food Trail, Foodie Towns, as well as any other developments on the Limerick Food Strategy, among others ie Failte Ireland, Taste the Island, and Bord Bia strategies. The basis of the Training Programme has been formed in an earlier ‘Phase One’ programme of training where participants learned to develop an identity for the region’s food tourism and promote it. Although this learning should guide the topics for learning, this is a new phase and independent phase and should be approached as such.Phase two will build on these achievements of phase one but will be a new programme with a focus on bringing in more and a wider variety of participants with the emphasis on event development and promotion, PR and Marketing, and attracting the visitor. There have been several new additions to the food tourism landscape, and these should be engaged for participation. The project will be centred on a series of (approximately 15) facilitated group training workshops and learning familiarisation trips to relevant food destinations, with an expectation of developing the sector, as well as delivering the skills necessary to do so. The workshops are expected to be carried out in line with national Covid 19 safety recommendations.
