Framework Agreement for the Provision of Subsidised Local Bus Services.
Descriptions
The Council has a statutory duty under the 1985 Transport Act to consider the provision of bus services that are not commercially viable (to bus operators) but considered by the Council to be socially necessary because they facilitate the completion of journeys to access key services. The Council currently holds approximately 200 contracts for the provision of such services, which have a gross contract value of over GBP 7 000 000. The majority of these are awarded following tender and operators forming part of the DPS will receive details of and have the ability to submit prices for the operation of service contracts awarded following mini-competitions called off under the framework agreement. Individual contracts awarded under this framework will normally be of 4 year duration with options to extend.
