Plans have been developed to increase rolling stock numbers which will consequently increase maintenance activities and birthing requirements. One of the locations for increased birthing is Fratton, where the existing sidings known colloquially as the 'banana sidings' will be modified to accommodate through services and CET facilities.A design consultant has been appointed for the GRIP 2 to 8 design development.
