Frozen, Non-UK Derived Single Donor Plasma.
Descriptions
NHSBT will tender for a contract or contracts to commence 1.12.2017 for the supply of efficacious plasma components (fresh frozen plasma for paediatric and neonatal use, single and pooled cryoprecipitate for neonatal and paediatric use) for recipients deemed not to have been exposed to the risk of vCJD in the UK food chain. Plasma will be sourced from a country outside the UK with a vCJD prevalence >2.5 log lower than the UK. Regarding other transfusion transmitted infections, the final component risk must be ‘no worse than current’.
