Tenders are invited to carry out an assessment of the development of alternative proteins for human consumption within the UK over the next 10 years. Particular questions to be answered are: -What types of alternative protein will become available over the period and in what timescales? -How commercially viable are they likely to be bearing in mind issues such as production and retail cost and consumer acceptability/desirability? -Are there any specific risks to consumers that might be associated with the production and consumption of these products? -To what extent are the various alternative proteins able to provide more sustainable and climate friendly food than current main sources of protein?
