This survey is in support of Defra’s data gathering exercise to support the ongoing monitoring of The UK’s offshore Marine Protected Areas network and aims to collect a mix of seabed imagery, sediment samples and acoustic data from the Pisces Reef Complex SAC and Utopia MCZ. The survey will include acoustical data collection using a chirper. In line with JNCC guidelines Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) operations will be carried out during night time hours. It is expected that acoustic surveying will be carried out during the first five days of the survey, although this is subject to change depending on conditions.
