Descriptions
Block 34 is an existing three storey building located within the Luton and Dunstable Hospital site, adjacent Block 30 and Block 35. It consists of a ground floor, level 01, small basement plant room and an under croft connecting from the basement plant room to below the ground floor level. Refer to figure 2 in Section A12 for Block 34 location within the Luton and Dunstable University hospital site. The ground floor of Block 34 was originally built around the 1960's, with an additional floor and further refurbishment work done on the building within the 1980's and 1990's. The scope for this project involves the refurbishment of part of the ground floor within Block 34, so the Block 28 EBME department can be relocated to Block 34. Currently the ground floor is used for the following: + Kitchen and catering area + Food preparation + Food storage + General storage + Administration office + Bed storage To allow for the relocation of EBME, the kitchen and catering facilities are being reduced in size and the bed store is relocated within the demise, with area reduced. A few existing food storage spaces shall remain untouched.
