Refurbishment & Upgrade of Stoer Head Lighthouse PRE-START 1. In advance of the start of site project works by the Principal Contractor shall arrange an initial Asbestos Survey and Report via a UKAS accredited asbestos surveying company prior to refurbishment works starting on site. STAGE 1 2. The Principal Contractor will establish temporary welfare and storage in agreed areas. The Principal Contractor shall provide all drinking water and non-potable water for the site works. 3. The Principal Contractor will establish a temporary navigational light on the balcony as per NLB electrical specifications to meet an NLB / Contractor mutually agreed Notice to Mariners date for the temporary light to come into operation. 5. After removal of all de-commissioned NLB equipment (i.e) Optic Control Cubicle, old batteries, etc), provide appropriate safe packaging and arrange for land transportation to NLB Oban Depot for removal of NLB spares and disposal to registered dumps as required. De-mobilise and clear site. 6. Principal Contractor to supply the NLB Project Engineer with ‘as built’ information of the electrical installation for incorporation within NLB Operation and Maintenance Manual documentation. STAGE 2 7. A new toilet compartment is to be created in the ground floor of the tower. Connections shall have to be made for bring a new water supply in from by the bothy and foulwater connection into the existing outfall via a new manhole. Following the digging of the trenches for the connections, the courtyard will have to be reinstated to the present condition. The new toilet will be installed with a macerator. 8. A new hinge table has to constructed and mounted to the tower wall to provide a temporary rest area for NLB technicians. 9. Following the re-engineering works general painting and refurbishment of the internal and external areas of the tower is required as per Specifications. Temporary Scaffolding, power cradle, or other safe working measures are to be supplied by the Contactor for working at height. The nominated painters shall have to provide evidence of competence and experience of painting in a similar exposed environment. 10. De-mobilise and clear site of all ex. project materials and plant for safe delivery back to Oban, Contactors premises or disposal to registered dumps. 11. Principal Contractor to supply the NLB Project Engineer with ‘as built’ information for incorporation within NLB Operation and Maintenance Manual documentation.
