GDCG: Development of a Welsh Language Confidence Building Scheme

Descriptions

The National Centre seeks a tenderer, or partnership of tenderers, who wish to develop a pilot project, aimed at helping unconfident or reluctant Welsh speakers to increase their confidence in using the language. We would note that we expect the main target for the project to be people not currently receiving ‘Learn Welsh’ instruction. They may be learners who have left some time ago, or people who have received a Welsh medium education but not had an opportunity to use the language, or unconfident speakers of any kind.We wish the tenderer to run the project in a specific area of Wales, giving their reasons for selecting that area including evidence of need. We will expect the tenderer to carry out local research on possible target audiences, and to present a short course, or series of activities suitable for sessions to meet their requirements, and increasing their confidence in using Welsh. You will need to develop a name and sub-brand for the pilot project, together with suitable promotional materials in line with the National Centre brand. You will need to develop learning resources for the courses / sessions to be held. This may include researching what is already available for use (e.g. the National Centre’s existing courses).Consideration can also be given to the results of any knownsimilar projects carried out in the past in Wales or abroad.Consideration should be given to whether there is a need for a link to the National Centre’s mainstream courses. The tenderer could develop a project targeted at one kind of target audience, or at a number of different audiences. The National Centre welcomes original and progressive ideas on how the fundamental aim of the pilot project can be met, which is to help people increase their confidence in Welsh in order to increase their use of the language. The project should not develop a strong element of individual mentoring, since the ‘Siarad’ scheme is already available at a national level and able to provide this. Tenderers can consider how to introduce participants to other Welsh language societies and activities in the area.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=90198.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility.
