As a water and wastewater service provider, United Utilities has multiple streams of waste in which it is responsible for the efficient disposal of.The purpose of this tender process is to award a framework agreement for the provision of waste management services for the Company's general and hazardous waste streams across an estimated 262 different site locations through the north west, which includes but is not limited to the provision of containers, lift, collection, transportation, disposal and recycling of waste.Lot 1 — General Waste includes the following waste streams:— All general waste— Food waste— Recyclable mixed waste such as, paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, plastic packaging, food cans, glass and other mixed recyclable general products. Recyclable metals and wood— Scrap metals— Green / biodegradable waste— Glass— Mixtures of concrete, brick, tiles and ceramics / rubble— WoodThe value of Lot 1 services for General Waste exceeds the EC threshold and therefore will be in accordance with EC directivesLot 2 — Hazardous waste includes:— Oily rags— Aerosols— Car Batteries— NIC CAD Batteries— Flourescent Tubes— Grease cartridges— Oil (engine gearbox waste)— Oil filters— Paint— Mineral based non-chlorinated hydraulic oils— Alkaline batteries— Waste originating from garages (may contain asbestos)— Used sodium lamps— chemicals, (list chemical types)— WEEE items— Sharps— IBC's— Filter cake— Spent Pac-Lime— Bottom Ash— Set cakeLot 2; Hazardous Waste does not meet the EC threshold value and therefore whilst a fair and thorough tender process will be undertaken for this lot, it is not in accordance with EC regulations.
