The British Council in the UK and in India is launching a new programme called Generation UK-India which aims to support up to 25 000 young people from the UK to gain experience and skills through study, teaching and work placements in India over the next 5 years.We are looking to work with a range of partners to deliver this programme in order to increase impact and deliver the following objectives:— Create more international opportunities for young people from the UK in order to broaden their horizons and increase their understanding of our globalised world;— Develop the skills of young people in the UK to boost employability, enhancing UK's competitiveness in the global economy;— Promote India as a key destination for studying and working for young people from the UK;— Support efforts to internationalise Indian institutions by placing bright and ambitious young people from the UK in schools, universities and companies across India;— Build a deeper, wider and stronger understanding between India and the UK increasing knowledge and trust of the UK in India as well as giving programme participants the chance to develop stronger understanding of and trust in India.This programme aligns with the UK Governments aims to develop outward mobility, increase engagement with India and improve the skills and employability of young people in the UK in order to make the UK workforce more competitive.
