The Forestry Commission Wales, is seeking to enter into a contract with a private sector enterprise for the design, construction, management and operation of a new mountain bike facility as part of the Visit Wales Initiative and Heads of the Valleys Regeneration scheme. The facility is to be created at Gethin Woods, Aberfan, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taff. The core minimum requirements of the facility are• Creation of a commercially managed and operated bike park• Creation of new downhill runs• A receptor centre from which the commercial venture can operate.• An area of land where several “runs” can be established for downhill riding / free-riding.• Uplift arrangements to transport customers from the receptor premises to the start of the "runs".The centre is to be created, managed and operated by the successful tenderer, under a lease of rights agreement from Forestry Commission Wales.
