Wigan Council is seeking a contractor to carry out servicing and maintenance of goods, passenger, platform lifts and through the floor lifts. The contract will cover servicing, entrapments, out of hours call-outs repairs advised following servicing or following occurrences of breakdown, and supplementary (SAFed) tests. The servicing and maintenance of lifts must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturers instructions complying with relevant health and safety legislation relating to lifts and lifting equipment and any associated guidance including The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER98), The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Safety Assessment Federation Limited (SAFed). It is intended that the successful contractor would be engaged using a Comprehensive Maintenance Agreement with a works value limited to a maximum of 500 GBP per breakdown/repair. The contractor would need to provide services according to a priority system which will be used to determine the required attendance, with attendance within 2 hours being required for those jobs classified as being of the most urgent priority. The duration of the contract will be 3 years with an option to extend for a further period of 1 year. Wigan Council makes no guarantee as to the volume of business offered through this contract.
