GP OUT OF HOURS SERVICE

Under the terms of the GMS Contract, in 2004 Local Health Boards in Wales assumed responsibility for providing Out of Hours urgent medical care for their registered patient population where practices choose to opt out of providing the service. The aim of the Out of Hours Service is to ensure patients with urgent primary care needs, which cannot wait until the next available in-hours surgery, are met and that other patients accessing the service are given appropriate advice and information.Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board have a requirement to award a contract for the provision of the call handling/ non-clinical triage service for the whole of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board and for the provision of clinical services to the Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot Localities of the ABMU HB, and incorporates cover for protected learning time sessions. As the current contract arrangements expire in June 2011, expressions of interest are sought from experienced providers to be considered for providing this service in the future.
